Created by Danning Liang and Artem Laptiev at the MIT’s School of Architecture and Planning, VBox is an AI-powered radio for musical exploration and group vibrations. Through the Large Language Model, VBox captures the various abstracted understandings of the song played in the form of texts and lets you travel down one of these rabbit holes to find more of what is hard to describe.

Sol – An apparatus that depicts pathways of the sun

Sol is a custom made apparatus that can depict any position and any trajectory of the sun. Since the sun’s path changes every day, the exact path it takes through the sky depends not only on the date but also on the geographical location of the observer. Sol reveals the different pathways the sun takes from anywhere in the world.

Found in Translation is an interactive, immersive installation where using their own spoken sentences, visitors viscerally experience the process of machine translation. HOLO is ending the year with a bang: a new website. Launched six weeks ago,
HOLO.mg expands the print magazine into a more robust, ‘always on’ editorial and curatorial platform. Already a hub of activity, two major research projects are underway, and a slate of new stories and favourites from the HOLO archive are due in 2021.

Created by Benedikt Groß, Maik Groß and Thibault Durand, Mind the “Uuh” is an experimental training device helping everyone to become a better public speaker. The device is constantly listening to the sound of your voice, aiming to make you aware of “uuh” fill words.

Seen is a project that deals with interception and filtering of our communications by the NSA, GCHQ and other security agencies. It is a typeface with a preloaded set of “trigger words” when written, the font immediately crosses them out.

Narratron is an interactive projector that augments hand shadow puppetry with AI-generated storytelling. Designed for all ages, it transforms traditional physical shadow plays into an immersive and phygital storytelling experience.

Six centuries later, the learning algorithm Stylegan2 follow the heritage of medieval copyist monks and creates a new version of the “Book of hours”, an apocryphal work.
