Helios 2024 – Imaging and imagining the sun

Helios 2024 is a celebration of the sun in its phase of solar maximum by audiovisual artist Dan Tapper. The exhibition gathers solar data from space organizations, as well as utilizing Tapper’s DIY devices that encode solar data into lo-fi playable records and reveal radio spectrum from the earth’s ionosphere and space.

Saturn Submerged – Infinite boxes of infinite space

Created by Gabriel Pulecio, Saturn Submerged is part of an ongoing series of ‘infinity boxes’ that create expanded spaces within themselves. The sculpture is composed of multiple mirrored surfaces and LEDs, which are fused to create the illusion of infinite depth and imagery.

‘A Drop of Light’ is an interactive new-media art research project aimed at developing a computer-generated holographic spot as a responsive techno-hypermedium with which the performer interacts and her techno-perception is embodied, expressed, and analyzed.

Created by Matthew Biederman for the upcoming album by Pierce Warnecke, ‘A Quickie in the Bouncy House’ is a music video deploying Stable Diffusion to explore the edges of the AI text-to-image, forcing it into SFW corners of its training where it appears to break down, get stuck between gender, race or in time.

Created by Lauren Lee McCarthy & Kyle McDonald, Unlearning Language is an interactive installation and performance that uses machine learning to provoke the participants to find new understandings of language, undetectable to algorithms.

Created by Michael Sedbon, ‘Cryptographic Beings’ is a technological proposal that leverages our ability to control and abstract biology to perform digital information storage.

‘PERACH’ is a biofeedback art installation that allows visitors to ‘feel’ the interior electrical happenings of their plants. Perach consists of a multi-sensor IoT device along with a web platform that provides visitors with the ability to hear, and visually perceive the changes taking place inside plants.

Created by COCOLAB from Mexico and commissioned by ARCA, Cycles is an audio visual installation that uses a series of laser projectors to visualise short cycle audio compositions by a collection of A/V artists.

Tundra define themselves as a “collaborative artistic collective” whose members include musicians, sound engineers, programmers and visual artists. Their focus is to create “spaces and experiences by making sound, visuals and emotions work together” in audiovisual performances and interactive installations.

Saint-Petersburg based Alexander Letcius and Bulat Sharipov create a magnificent virtual forest, illuminated by luminous flying creatures that react to visitors’ position.
