7398 Simple Metronome [iPhone, Flash]

Created by Takayuki Fukatsu, developer behind great titles such as Quad Camera and Tilt Shift Generator, comes a simple but beautifully designed experimental Metronome app. What is especially interesting is that this was created using Flash CS5. Takayuki doesn’t reveal a lot of detail but does provide some information:

As far as I tested, flash for iPhone is enough fast to create iPhone application. It may be not for 3D FPS game, but do we need super fast animation for just a utility app? I don’t think so. In addition the greatest thing about Flash for iPhone is that, we can easily make both app for iPhone and app for online demo at the sametime!!! Promoting iPhone app is one of the biggest difficulty about app store, now only flash developer can upload online working demo to their website. Its a strong advantage! (In this moment, I don’t upload online demo, because swf file may contains some NDA codes.) read more

For those that do not know, Takayuki is also a flash developer (fladdict.net) working with Tha.Ltd and behind many exciting flash projects. You can find out more by visiting his flash website.

Do you know any other apps created with CS5 in the AppStore? Apparently there are “many“.

  1. It's interesting. Clearly Flash-apps will be capable of a lot.

But unfortunately it doesn't give us an indication how well CS5-generated apps will be able to handle simultaneous interactivity and real-time sound generation. I'd like to get a sense of that.

  2. I was a bit disappointed when I tried to start the metronome by pulling on it and flicking it like a real metronome … and it didn't work. Turns out you have to tap the screen to activate.

But I guess the whole point of this is to demo Flash CS5 development.

It's still nice. I'm keeping it.

  3. Apps built with flash would be pretty good, sometimes better than the other apps built with the normal OS. Flash is pretty new on the iPhone, apple did not allow Flash on their device for quite some time, now that they did think there will be better apps and games for the phone.
