Absorb [iPhone, Games]
Absorb is a game of orbs, physics and colour. The task is to pull them into the same-colored Gates (coloured bars at the bottom of the screen) to absorb the Orbs, or leave them on the screen to combine with other Orbs. Pulling an orb into a wrong Gate will destroy both the orb and the gate costing you the level. The game starts with tutorial levels, taking you through basic functions/rules of the game. These get more complex where managing your Orbs can be quite a challenge. Interestingly (colour), you can choose from 15 different color palettes for your Orbs and UI. This means that the visual feel of the game can be altered based to your colour preference. The task of actually moving the orbs is wonderful in itself. Dragging the vector in which you want to the Orb to move has a real polish to it, becoming second nature to you pretty quickly. This is all accompanied by integrated sounds, you create the background music with your actions. For those with particular music tastes, this feature can be disabled in favor of your own music.
If you are a fan of Eliss (clear inspiration I would say), you will love Absorb. I personally consider Eliss to be one of the best games for the iPhone and although Absorb lacks the UI polish of Eliss, the game in itself is definetly a lot of fun….and for $0.99 – a steal.
