Little Bugger – Preview [iPhone]

littlebugger00

Currently in development, Little Bugger is a new iPhone game created by John Iacoviello of STATIK. Primarily a Flash developer since 2001, John has chosen to divert his attention to the new iPhone platform to try out new things and explore new experiences.

Little Bugger is John’s second application after Closet, a clothing organization/planning application. The app takes on a new aesthetic much different to Closet getting away from Apple’s standard interface. Crafted in beautiful black and white, adopting slightly retro style pixel graphics, Little Bugger is a take on entomophobia (fear of insects). Squash as many insects as possible without letting any get away. Great sounds, very realistic insect movement and wonderful use of iPhone’s multitouch capability give the game a special quality. Global ranking is included together with different difficulty modes. You can also switch to white on black although black on white works much better with the overall game aesthetic.

Even though I am personally against killing any form of bugs, the game does provide much pleasure in seeing the creepy little buggers squashed and it’s highly addictive. I am nevertheless assured  by John that no real bugs were hurt during the development and testing of the game.

The game should be available in the AppStore within few weeks. For more information and to follow the development, check out John’s blog. Please note the game is still in development so the things you see in the screens and gameplay video might still change.
