The Senior Interactive Developer (Emerging Media) will help envision, plan, and execute on innovative solutions for Nordstrom across all channels, including online, in-store, and mobile app experiences. The senior developer will also be asked to significantly contribute to and lead projects on the Interactive Development Emerging Media team, including the development of software, tools and processes in a strongly collaborative environment. At the heart of this position lies a desire to make advanced technology imminently accessible to everyday people through simple, fun, and — above all — intuitive UI.
To be considered, candidates must have proven expertise (including portfolio) in the development of creative, interactive experiences, both within an online context, and outside of it. A passion for and strong knowledge of current/emerging trends and technologies in the interactive space are a must, as is a proven and intuitive understanding of what makes for a great user experience.

Develop technical solutions for a variety of interactive experiences, utilizing varying programming languages and technologies
Create prototype solutions from concept to mechanical design including electronic assembly and writing software for project pitches
Work with visual merchandise engineers, project managers, back-end developers,designers, business stakeholders and external groups to ideate, educate, develop and implement small and large-scale project
Ensure coding addresses functional and/or business requirements, adheres to best practices and is delivered within project timeframes and budget
Participate in meetings with staff, team members and other project stakeholders
Act as technical advisor to business owners, project management, and backend development teams regarding front-end development standards and processes emerging media processes and experiences as well as hardware/software recommendations & coordination
Create specification documents detailing proposed logic, assets, responsibilities,resources and deliverables expected from the emerging media team on projects for other groups
Document findings for research projects and recommendations for future use of technologies researched
Present creative ideas and technical solutions for interactive features and Web site marketing initiatives
Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and developments
Minimum of 5 year professional experience with one or more of the following: Processing and Kinect libraries for Processing, Arduino, Adobe Air, Objective-C, mobile app development, integration with social media APIs
Professional experience in one ore more of the following:: an object-oriented
programming language such as C# or Java OpenFrameworks, OpenCV, OpenGL, C++, C#, Cinder, DMX, Java, Python, etc.
Comfortable with basic electrical engineering and low level hardware programming
Demonstrated success (including examples) in advising and negotiating with business owners on interactive application requests, timelines, budgets, best practices, usability, etc.
Demonstrated ability and drive to quickly learn new technologies, tools, and processes
Knowledge of software testing a plus
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; sound organizational, negotiating and decision-making skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-starter and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
Development experience in one or more of the following areas: Responsive design/development and mobile device applications and/or optimized Web sites
Familiarity with the following frameworks: RequireJS, CSS LESS, Jira, Crucible, Stash
