The Creative Director, Experience concepts, presents, and carries through a holistic vision for interactive spaces and experiences—steering storytelling, design, and interaction decisions on projects. The position is a split between creative leadership and hands-on project contributions. This role reports to Deeplocal’s Chief Innovation Officer and leads interdisciplinary teams of designers, engineers, producers, and storytellers on first-of-their-kind experiential projects for innovative brand clients.

Candidates for this role must have a portfolio of beautiful interactive physical art, installations, or spaces and a history of leading cross-functional teams. Ideal applicants have a background in physical design, such as interaction design, architecture, or industrial design. The right candidate for this role possesses exceptional presentation skills and can inspire and instill confidence in his or her team and clients. He or she should be interested in technology and stay current on new technologies and product features.

The Creative Director, Experience will have the creative and production support of the brightest minds in the creative engineering field to collaborate with. This staff includes full time roboticists, industrial designers, architects, strategists, and electrical, mechanical, and software engineers (many whom are a hybrid of the aforementioned). Additionally, they’ll have access to Deeplocal’s full fabrication facility on the first floor of the company’s Pittsburgh headquarters, where the team prototypes and builds every interactive experience they dream up.

This position is based out of Deeplocal’s Pittsburgh office.

Creative Ideation – respond to creative briefs with innovative ideas that intelligently use design and technology; own the experience design perspective
Pitch Development – work with lean, 3-person creative teams to communicate concepts through visuals and words that are on-trend, on-brand, and visually-stunning
Creative Leadership – comfortable making subjective creative decisions with confidence, then respectfully and tactfully communicating them internally and externally
Creative Direction – provide creative leadership and inspire project teams to create incredible work
Client Presentations – lead client meetings, brainstorms, and pitches; troubleshoot client requests and changes in direction tactically and respectfully
Holistic Vision & Responsibility – own the success of interactive experience projects, pitching in as a hand-on member of the team as well as guiding team members’ work
