Our building blocks make it easy to integrate location into any mobile or online application. We’re changing the way people move around cities and understand our planet.

UX designers at Mapbox turn complexity into clarity. They can juggle different points of view, move forward despite ambiguity, and synthesize what they learn into a distilled experience for our users. As UX designer you’ll bring strong visual design skills, focus on goals, and have a love for metrics & continuous improvement to our design team. You work together with the design, communication and product teams to tell our story on

The role
Your work starts with a strong understanding of the people using Mapbox, their goals & challenges. You connect our customers with our business goals through beautiful, effective design.
You combine experience, goals, metrics, and feedback to design better flows and screens for our homepage and products.
You work together with our communication & design team to set goals and improve
You have strong visual design skills, are comfortable writing HTML / CSS, and are familiar with JavaScript. On an average day you’ll be running prototyping tools, code editors, and design tools in parallel.

Qualities we’re looking for
A focus on Web technologies. HTML, CSS, and Javascript are your tools of trade. You’ve explored different frameworks and other tools to make your work easier and more effective.
Strong Communications.
Creativity. You have a track record of brainstorming creative ideas to tackle complex problems and are constantly learning from past successes and failures.
Empathy. You express ideas and feedback with grace, economy, and conviction. You’re not a robot.
Strong composition. You should understand balance and prioritization of elements visually and temporally. You should apply your experience in composition not only to your design work but also to how you write, prioritize tasks, and communicate with others.
Eager to explore. You don’t need to be an experienced programmer, but everyone at Mapbox touches code at some level and you should be excited to start learning.
Teaching and learning. You’ll be surrounded by teammates with deep experience in strategy, data, code, and design, but we expect to be learning just as much from you.
