Maya – Interface Overview [Tutorial]

mayatutorial0100

Welcome to the first of five video tutorials in Autodesk Maya, an award-winning 3D modeling, animation, visual effects, and rendering application for Mac, Windows and Linux.

Over the next few weeks we will introduce you to basic modeling, rendering and animation in Maya. Aimed at the beginners we will stick to the basics, enough to get those interested in learning maya get going fast. We recommend to explore Maya yourself after each tutorial trying to learn some of the features we show at the videos. I also feel it’s important to mention that because I thought myself maya without books or instructions but by pure experimentation, those already familiar with Maya may find that some ways I suggest doing things might not be the best and fastest. There are many ways to do things in Maya and whilst this may be the beauty of Maya it can also be slightly confusing when trying to figure out the best way to attack the problem. I hope that my way will nevertheless provide you enough skills to pick up the basics of maya fast. We will do the following 5 video tutorials:

1. Interface Overview | 2. Modeling | 3. Rendering | 4. Animation | 5. Dynamics.

You can download the 30-Day Trial of Maya here.
