San Francisco’s venerable Gray Area Foundation for the Arts are winding down a major fundraising campaign and they need your help. With just ten days remaining, they are attempting to hit a crucial $300,000 fundraising goal as they begin construction on their new space, which will transform the Mission District’s historical Grand Theater into a media arts centre and their permanent home. Serving as a cultural incubator, a co-working hub, a venue for specialized education, and a vibrant event space, Gray Area are a super important arts and culture presence given the decidedly uncritical and market-driven tech industry that resides in their back yard.
Currently at $251,187 the campaign has a ways to go, but thankfully the Wilhelm Foundation and the org’s Board of Directors have stepped up to help and promise to match donations until they reach the 300K target: so donate $25 and Gray Area gets $50. Consider making a donation, as organizations like Gray Area are few and far between in North America.
