The Apesnake Photobooth is an installation by Che-Wei Wang & David Penuela built using Kyle McDonald’s FaceOSC wrapper for openFrameworks. A webcam detects a single face, tracks it’s position, and calculates the width and height of it’s mouth. When the eyes and mouth match our desired expression (Manwolf face), the software triggers a Canon 1000D to take a photo. Photos are saved with a high resolution locally and automatically uploaded to Apesnake Manwolf’s Facebook Photos Page.
The Apesnake Photobooth was built at FABRICA after watching Machotaildrop. It’s possibly the greatest movie of all time. Many thanks to Daniel for introducing us to Machotaildrop, the rest of Fabrica Interactive Apesnakes, Angelo, Taylor, and a special thanks to Lizy and Oriol for supporting such an unprofitable project and allowing us to fulfill our dreams.
