Outnumbered, a brief history of imposture, 2009, is an installation that generates a moving image using a found panoramic photograph from 1936. The installation is computer-controlled and generates an aleatoric narrative using an extensive database of people who, in some way, are associated with imposture.

The programming is done in Max/MSP. For the moving parts (spindle, rails) IGUS were used.
The installation is currently on display at the Manifesta8 biennial in Murcia, Spain.

Jasper Rigole (°1980, Bruges) is a Belgian artist who graduated from the film department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (KASK) in 2004. In December 2008, he finished a two-year post-graduate course at the Higher Institute for Fine Arts (HISK). Currently he is working on a PhD at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (KASK). His work includes single screen video works as well as installations. His main project at present is the ‘International Institute for the Conservation, Archiving and Distribution of Other People’s Memories’ (IICADOM).

Infractor is an interactive, artistic application that has been developed for a multitouch-table. It is based on the article database of the New York Times. The information can be searched, filtered and read by putting physical objects on the interactive surface.

The project has been carried out entirely in Processing. The reacTIVision-software was used for the tracking of the objects.

Infractor has been developed and designed by a group of students of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences.

iFound is a new iPhone application from tha ltd for browsing ffffound.com, very popular image bookmarking service and inspiration website. Released only hours ago, iFound allows you to browse public as well as if you have an account, see your own images and “i Like” others.

I, unfortunately, do not have an account on ffffound (nobody offered yet =], anyone??) (i do now, Thanks to Keita!) so I am unable to will soon test the member features. Nevertheless, even without the account, the app has been created with some truly neat features allowing you to fully browse the site. On start the app shows you latest 10 images submitted and scrolling vertically further, another 10 are loaded. If you tap on any image the app will also display 10 images and more sharing similar tags. You will find yourself quickly spending hours browsing the ever-growing database of some trully wonderful imagery submitted by the ffffound community.

In addition, you can control the quality of the images loaded in Settings. Default quality is set to “Auto,” which will automatically load images depending on what type of connection (WiFi or 3G) you have.

This is a five star app even if you don’t have ffffound account. A little pricey but if you are after the truly wonderful inspiration on the go and you know ffffound, this should be a pretty easy decision (itunes link below, hit it!).
