As 2017 comes to a close, we take a moment to look back at the outstanding work done this year. From spectacular peformances, large scale installations, devices and tools to the new virtual spaces for artistic exploration – so many great projects are being added to the CAN archive! As the ACT Center in Gwangju, South Korea, and an all-star cast of more than sixty international artists, designers and cultural producers gear up for the inaugural edition of ACT Festival, the details of our four day program have begun to roll out – here are the highlights.
CAN is thrilled to announce the first edition of #ACTFestival – a four-day summit that combines a world class exhibition, a symposium, a performance and workshop program, and takes place November 25th to 28th / Gwangju, South Korea.
This past Saturday Ryoji Ikeda presented the North American premiere of superposition to a crowd of several hundred at the Musée d’art Contemporain de Montréal (MAC). As would be expected, the sixty-five minute multiscreen performance played out as kind of a data aesthetics megamix that flashed through a series of precisely choreographed abstract visual vignettes that grappled with the digital sublime and pondered the agnosticism of network culture.
data.anatomy [civic] is a new audiovisual installation by Ryoji Ikeda, arising from a unique collaboration with Mitsuru Kariya, the development leader of the new Honda Civic.
