Node10 [Events, vvvv]

Coming up in November 2010 for the second time, the NODE10 is an inter-media forum is to facilitate a cross-border exchange between interactive media, digital art and generative design. The forum emerged in 2008 from an initiative of developers and users centered around vvvv but now gathers people working across the disciplines of applied and artistic media in an week-long event.

The focus of this years NODE10 is the investigation of cultural consequences of a post-industrialised, technological society.
The exhibition ‘abstrakt Abstrakt’ thus deepens the discourse surrounding technology and society. Participants look into the subjects through workshops and talks combined with subsequent symposiums and live performances.

Exhibition is curated by Eno Henze and Marius Watz

15-20 November 2010

Frankfurter Kunstverein
Steinernes Haus am Römerberg
Markt 44
60311 Frankfurt am Mai, Germany

The event also calls for entries, inviting to participate and contribute to the NODE. Your works could be from screen to wall to everything, regardless of software.

Deadline: 31.08.2010
For more information, see node10.vvvv.org

Interestingly, although vvvv is windows only, I have been told that the team is working on rewriting the software and make it multi platform. This is really exciting news and might have been one of the main reasons why vvvv does not have a strong presence in the creative app development. If you are unfamiliar with vvvv, it is a toolkit for real time video synthesis. It is designed to facilitate the handling of large media environments with physical interfaces, real-time motion graphics, audio and video that can interact with many users simultaneously (ie multi-user-multi-touch).

The identity for the festival has been designed by Strukt including the creation of a logo, a design and layout guideline, and the awesome trailer to announce the festival (see below).
