Animas – Music co-creation with AI

Anima is an interactive installation that facilitates a musical jam session between humans and machines. Operating much like a sequencer, Anima uses open-source AI algorithms to generate musical sequences.

Algorithmic Drive – Spectacular car(au)tonomy

‘Algorithmic Drive’ is an interactive installation and performance inspired by inspired by autonomous cars and dash cam compilations. The work plays with the tension generated by confronting the technologies used by mobile robotics with the unpredictable nature of the world.

Solace: How We Made the Interactive Speculative Fiction

Solace is an interactive animated film based on celebrated science fiction writer Jeff Noon’s short story about a near future in which marketing and addiction are disturbingly intertwined.

Making openFrameworks Work – Users and educators gather in Denver, Colorado

In late February 2016, a group of openFrameworks users and educators gathered in Denver Colorado to work on improving the ways people learn and use openFrameworks (OF). They worked intensely for 3.5 days, 12 hours per day, collectively committing more than 800 people-hours to creating and improving openFrameworks learning resources to help students around the world learn how to create with this powerful digital arts and design tool.

Poetic Router – A tribute to the age of network awareness

Created by Saurabh Datta (automato), Poetic Router is a project that investigates the potential of the everyday manufactured IoT platforms beyond what is commonly discussed. Whereas most concerns of IoT are focused on security since every “Chip-‘ed” device is hackable and can be jacked and modded remotely. Poetic Router explores network transmission as a way to generate poetry by scraping the data found on the server links.

Blind Camera is an AI powered device that generates pictures from sound instead of light while preserving the experience of using a point-and-shoot camera.

Created by Lingdong Huang at the Future Sketches Group (MIT Media Lab), “Semi-Realistic Rotary Experiences” is a set of experiments exploring augmentation of real life physical gestures of rotating things.

Clockwise (2021) is a generative and experimental audiovisual piece that explores the concept of space-time, Zeno’s paradoxes related to the infinite subdivision of the units of measurement of space and time, and their experimental abstract audiovisual representations.

Created by LIMAGE, a collective comprised of media designers, 3d creators, artists and coders, ‘Avatar·Mythology’ is a performance drawing on the worldview of Shan Hai Jing (Classic of Mountains and Seas), a Chinese classic text of mythic geography and beasts.

Created by Neil Mendoza, One Degree of Freedom explores interactive projection mapping as a means to touch and interact with an object. Drawing inspiration from marble and pinball machines, the installation gives the mapping illusion an extra layer of depth.

The biennial festival NODE – Forum for Digital Arts, is back next year taking place between April 27th until May 3rd 2015 in Frankfurt, Germany.
