Transmissions from the Technological Sublime is a panoramic multimedia installation that depicts a nocturnal landscape of non-place populated by infrastructure rather than people. Hatched as a MFA thesis project within OCAD University’s integrated media program by Toronto’s Michael Trommer, the audiovisual piece renders highways, shipping channels, airports, and office parks as uncanny interstitial zones of contemplation.

A Wilderness Most Luminous – The Making of Micah Scott’s Forest

Forest invites kids and adults alike to engage with a giant tactile colour mixer, with ‘spinner’ controls distributed across a 7 x 2 grid of custom-fabricated MDF panels. Built in collaboration between Micah Scott and a team at Ryerson University’s New Media Program, the interactive installation is currently showing at TIFF Kid’s digiPlaySpace. On March 20th, the doors of the Klokgebouw, Eindhoven, NL, are opened for a new edition of the STRP Biennial, one of the major art and technology events in Europe. For 10 days the four large industrial halls are filled with monumental installations, cutting edge music, spectacular performances and an international conference, for everyone interested in real virtuality.

“The Crystal Line” is the latest work by critical engineer Julian Oliver. Re-creating an authentic crystal radio design that was used widely during WWI, the device broadcasts a transmission of ‘future of warfare’ chatter culled from various defence blogs that is translated from text to speech.
