gr1dflow – Exploring recursive ontologies

gr1dflow is a collection of artworks created through code, delving into the world of computational space. While the flowing cells and clusters showcase the real-time and dynamic nature of the medium, the colours and the initial configuration of the complex shapes are derived from blockchain specific metadata associated with the collection.

A Wilderness Most Luminous – The Making of Micah Scott’s Forest

Forest invites kids and adults alike to engage with a giant tactile colour mixer, with ‘spinner’ controls distributed across a 7 x 2 grid of custom-fabricated MDF panels. Built in collaboration between Micah Scott and a team at Ryerson University’s New Media Program, the interactive installation is currently showing at TIFF Kid’s digiPlaySpace. Created by AnneMarie Maes, Genesis of a Microbial Skin is a mixed media installations and a research project exploring the idea of Intelligent Beehives with a focus on smart materials, in particular microbial skin. The project is about predominantly growing Intelligent Guerilla Beehives from scratch, with living materials – just as nature does. 

A meditation on several recent Troika projects that render cellular automata with dice and anodised aluminium rather than pixels on a screen. Realized over the last four years, these works demonstrate how a prolonged investigation into a rudimentary approach can yield rich dividends.
