KRILLER – Globally synced broadcast of synth-soaked ambient software

KRILLER is an eternally looping, seven day, globally synced audio-visual broadcast of synth soaked ambient software (online) experience. The weeklong broadcast is divided into 6300 software art ‘cassettes’, each bound to a specific moment of time during the week, minted by its fabricator, and seamlessly fusing with its predecessor and successor to form audiovisual duets and mashups.

Floating Codes – The (spatial) topology of an artificial neural network

‘Floating Codes’ is a site-specific light and sound installation that explores the inner workings and hidden aesthetics of artificial neural networks – the fundamental building blocks of machine learning systems or artificial intelligence. The exhibition space itself becomes a neural network that processes information, its constantly alternating environment (light conditions/day-night cycle) including the presence of the visitors.

Material Sequencer – Physical materiality of sound

‘Material Sequencer’ is an 8-step electromechanical sequencer, designed to emphasise the physical materiality of sound and sound production. The simple usb-powered sound-sculpture takes the sequencing process outside the black box and into the acoustic realm, flaunting its materiality and physicality.

[Sinusoidal Noise] – A study of movement in sinusoidal chaos

Sinusoidal Noise is a modular light installation that uses random oscillating patterns to create a larger sense of movement. The work comprises 98 pixels each of which fades on and off at a unique frequency. These slow, detuned oscillations create the illusion of shapes emerging, where light appears to pass between pixels as they move…

Laser Microphone – Hear The Secret Sounds Of The Natural World

At every moment, we are surrounded by thousands of sounds too quiet to hear: bubbles in water, the movement of an insect’s legs, sand falling in an hourglass. Objects oscillating with undetectable amplitudes are creating symphonies all around us that we are deaf to. How can we tune into the secret sonic landscapes of the…

Putting The Pieces Back Together Again – The order of chaos

Created by Ralf Baecker, Putting The Pieces Back Together Again is an artistic investigation and meditation about complex systems and scientific methodology. Consisting of 1250 stepper motors arranged in a two dimensional grid, each motor in the installation moves in a random direction, sometimes intersecting and reversing direction, producing emergent constellations and behaviours.

Mutiertes L-System – Physically grown L-System

Created by Lotta Stöver at HfK Bremen, Mutiertes L-System is the physically grown L-System-Algorithm. From a software origin, it migrates into the physical world. By mutating and developing architectural structures it adapts to its new spatial environment.

Created by St. Petersburg artist collective VOLNA, Powerline is an audio reactive installation comprised of 220 meters of electroluminescent wire driven by 15 meter “voltaic arc” filling the space with electric buzz and sparks.

On December 23, 2023, “Hello from the Global Creative Laboratories! Vol. 2: Cultural Facilities Responding to the Times” was held at Civic Creative Base Tokyo (CCBT), a hub for exploring creativity through art, technology, and design.

Created by Julius von Bismarck & Benjamin Maus, Round About Four Dimensions sculpture represents a “hypercube”, “four-cube” or “tesseract”, often cited in mathematical and physical theories to illustrate concepts beyond three spatial dimensions.

Created by Julia Vollmer at HFK Bremen, The Crochet Protocol explores the interaction between crocheting, code, the wearer and the control through a machine.

The RWM MK1 (Radio Wave Modulator Mark 1) is an experimental electronic synthesizer that captures and transforms the constant stream of radio waves and transmissions passing through Earth’s atmosphere.

Created by Jon Butt the µ Muography device is an experimental DIY particle detector that detects high speed cosmic particles (muons) as they rain down to earth.

RE:PLACES is a complex 1.70-meter-high robotic apparatus that excretes the plastic objects and then deposits them around the exhibition space like three-dimensional brushstrokes.

Created by Lingdong Huang at the Future Sketches Group (MIT Media Lab), “Semi-Realistic Rotary Experiences” is a set of experiments exploring augmentation of real life physical gestures of rotating things.
