FPS by Hugo Arcier at “Fantômes numériques” exhibition

Created by Hugo Arcier, FPS is an installation inspired by the November 2015 Paris attacks where the visitors are invited to interact with a game controller, constructing a “memorial” from gunshots, and the only visible elements are pyrotechnic effects, gunshots, muzzle flashes, sparks, impacts and smoke.

Convergence, An ‘Art + Technology’ Summit at The Banff Centre

Convergence Summit, a four day conference “on art + technology” that took place at the Banff Centre Nov 27-29th. Located in the idyllic mountain-surrounded town of Banff, Alberta, the massive arts incubator played a important role in shaping discourse in and around ‘new media’ in the 90s and early aughties. With Convergence, the centre is planting a flag down and reasserting their importance as a key international digital arts venue—here is CAN’s report on the proceedings.

Vector – Toronto’s Game+Art Convergence

Vector festival, a self-described “game+art convergence” touches down in Toronto for four days later this week with a program of screenings, performances, panel discussions and exhibitions. “Queer Games Studies” is a recent collection of thematic essays published by the University of Minnesota Press that schematizes LGBTQ approachs to thinking about – and making – videogames.

Powered by a dizzying array of parametric meta-controls, VIDEOGAMO’s ‘party console’ DOBOTONE invites (up to) four players to cycle through a strange and fiercely competitive selection of lo-fi videogames.

Created and Directed by Anita Fontaine and Geoffrey Lillemon with W+K Amsterdam, Bitmap Banshees is a VR experience set inside a dystopian Amsterdam, where a gang of biker banshees have taken over the city and are out to get you.
