FoodLovers by ONUT

FoodLovers is a collection of 595 images showing 85 recipes from 21 countries. This project began the same day the Russo-Ukrainian war started. It is a call to action. We want to send a message of optimism to the world. We reflected on: What’s one thing that unites people no matter their beliefs? Anything that…

Rejected By My Own Robot — A Disobedient Kissing Machine

“Rejected By My Own Robot” is a disobedient kissing robot which is activated when the user approaches. The mechanical lips will extend towards the user as they inch closer. But the kiss will never be consummated: move too quickly or get too close and the lips will quickly retract, ultimately rejecting the user every time.…

Material Sequencer – Physical materiality of sound

‘Material Sequencer’ is an 8-step electromechanical sequencer, designed to emphasise the physical materiality of sound and sound production. The simple usb-powered sound-sculpture takes the sequencing process outside the black box and into the acoustic realm, flaunting its materiality and physicality.

Levitate CHROME EDITION

Machine drawn digital artworks based on nature itself. Originally created for the 1st Antarctic Biennale “Levitate” is an artwork visualising and interpreting natural phenomenons and systems, capturing the beauty and complexity of nature. Visual data captured around the globe forms the inspiration and foundation of each unique artwork. “Levitate” is a symbiosis between computer and…

FORMS – String Quartet

Created by Playmodes, ‘FORMS – String Quartet’ is a live multimedia performance for a string quartet, electronic music and panoramic visuals, in the field of visual sonification. The project originates from a real-time visual music score generator created by Playmodes, that is designed with a set of rules using graphic generation, driven by randomness and probability.

Created by Martin Hertig at ECAL, Sensible Data is a playful installation consisting of three machines that collect user’s personal data, evaluates mood, age, gender and beauty, to create a ‘passport’ that user can take away but which also randomly sent (without user’s knowledge) to another participant.

The Aurullia series are Tom Beddard’s interpretation of a fractal formula called Mandalay, a specific type of Mandelbox with additional parameters that allow scaling of the folding on individual axes, either in parallel or one after.

Music Drop is an interpretation of traditional hand cranked music box with the ability for the user to create their own custom tune.

The light installation ‘What is for Sure’ explores the relationship between space and time. By reinterpreting and manipulating the seemingly natural and chronological rhythm of light, the artwork addresses the phenomenon of chromatic changes in the sky caused by atmospheric scattering.

Created by Julia Vollmer at HFK Bremen, The Crochet Protocol explores the interaction between crocheting, code, the wearer and the control through a machine.

Narratron is an interactive projector that augments hand shadow puppetry with AI-generated storytelling. Designed for all ages, it transforms traditional physical shadow plays into an immersive and phygital storytelling experience.

Six centuries later, the learning algorithm Stylegan2 follow the heritage of medieval copyist monks and creates a new version of the “Book of hours”, an apocryphal work.

‘Equilibrium Morphologies’ investigates how complex articulated membrane structures can be erected and tensioned through emergent behaviours of interacting forces and explore multiple states of equilibrium.

Blind Camera is an AI powered device that generates pictures from sound instead of light while preserving the experience of using a point-and-shoot camera.

Serena Cangiano reviews “Perfect Behaviours – life redesigned by the algorithm” curated by Giorgio Olivero and on show in Turin, Italy’s OGR Officine Grandi Riparazioni.

Black Box Camera interprets the subject you want to capture in your photo and uses artificial intelligence to generate a unique physical print based on its own interpretation of that subject.

Plastic Sarira is a web-based media art project that presents a virtual ecosystem in which computer-programmed life forms and 3D-scanned plastic marine debris coexist in symbiosis.

Imagined as a tool to provide assistance to a conventional approach to sculpting, here an AI model is developed to seek out strategies that provide a constant improvement to how a given form is achieved. By feeding it with different tools, rules and rewards through reinforcement learning, the team steer the process revealing unpredictable outcomes.

Created by computational media artist, designer and entrepreneur Andreas Rothaug from Futura Epsis 1, Lumos Ra is a lamp with app-connectivity that interprets music, playfully exploring color gradients: an interactive experience stimulating and merging the visual and acoustic senses.

Novae explores cosmogonies – the formation of celestial objects in a constantly expanding universe.

In a world constantly adjusting and adapting to new methods of communication and connection expedited by rapid technological advancements, artist Amay Kataria explores what it means to be human.

Created by Dries Depoorter and currently exhibited at the New Media Gallery, ‘Seattle Crime Cams’ questions the sense of citizens responsibility in the age where technology has enabled us to participate globally.
