KRILLER – Globally synced broadcast of synth-soaked ambient software

KRILLER is an eternally looping, seven day, globally synced audio-visual broadcast of synth soaked ambient software (online) experience. The weeklong broadcast is divided into 6300 software art ‘cassettes’, each bound to a specific moment of time during the week, minted by its fabricator, and seamlessly fusing with its predecessor and successor to form audiovisual duets and mashups.

HOLO 3 – Mirror Stage: Between Computability and Its Opposite

Guest editor Nora N. Khan and fifteen luminaries question our problematic faith in and deference to AI. Exploring the limits of knowledge, prediction, language, and abstraction in computation, their collected essays and artworks measure the gap between machine learning hypotheticals and the mess of lived experience.

Floating Codes – The (spatial) topology of an artificial neural network

‘Floating Codes’ is a site-specific light and sound installation that explores the inner workings and hidden aesthetics of artificial neural networks – the fundamental building blocks of machine learning systems or artificial intelligence. The exhibition space itself becomes a neural network that processes information, its constantly alternating environment (light conditions/day-night cycle) including the presence of the visitors.

Fantastic Smartphones – ECAL MID

Fantastic Smartphones, alternative accessories, interactive installations and machine performances highlight the excesses relating to our use of these devices. By imagining innovative ways of interacting with our smartphones or by delegating our repetitive actions to machines, this exhibition takes a critical look at a society that has become addicted to an object that seems to have become indispensable : the “smart” phone.

Repeater is a custom software that creates a feedback loop between a pen plotter and a pen digitizer. The process starts with the pen plotter tracing the description text. At the same time the software records and draws the text on the screen as captured by the pen digitizer.

This tutorial shows you how to write code to create a brief looping animation, using computationally-generated graphics, suitable for both online and lenticular publishing. Then, using the unique GifPop services, you can get your GIFPOPs printed.

onedotzero partnered with Letchworth Garden City Council to deliver a series of events and interventions for the inaugural Letchworth ‘Fire & Fright Festival featuring a new site-specific installation by Loop.pH.

Weird Second-order Loops is a series of computer-generated animation loops that never repeat. Each of the loops is centred around a playful and simple cyclical idea that is a procedural reinterpretation of a long existing animation cliché, potentiating it ad infinitum.

Inspired by the working methodology of Matt Pyke, Loop is an app designed for iPad that lets you easily create short hand-drawn animations on your iPad and share them via email, Tumblr and in the Loop gallery.

UVA’s new installation at Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHUB) traces resonant frequencies and synchronicities occurring at the cosmic scale and explores how they relate to our sense of harmony.

The Wizard of AI is a 20-minute (AI-generated) video essay by Alan Warburton about the cultural impacts of generative AI. Produced over three weeks at the end of October 2023, one year after the release of the infamous Midjourney v4, the video itself is “99% AI” and was produced using generative AI tools like Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Runway and Pika.

Created by Julia Vollmer at HFK Bremen, The Crochet Protocol explores the interaction between crocheting, code, the wearer and the control through a machine.

Live code-able video synth and coding environment that runs directly in the browser, created by Naoto Hieda in collaboration with Pițipunk singer and artist IIOANA.

‘A Drop of Light’ is an interactive new-media art research project aimed at developing a computer-generated holographic spot as a responsive techno-hypermedium with which the performer interacts and her techno-perception is embodied, expressed, and analyzed.

Created by Matthew Biederman for the upcoming album by Pierce Warnecke, ‘A Quickie in the Bouncy House’ is a music video deploying Stable Diffusion to explore the edges of the AI text-to-image, forcing it into SFW corners of its training where it appears to break down, get stuck between gender, race or in time.

The 12th edition of the Patchlab SPACE/S Digital Art Festival will take place from October 19th to 22nd in Krakow and on October 28th at the Silesian Planetarium in Chorzow

Created by Moniker, Trending in the Multiverse explores novel possibilities of content production. Awestruck by the latest iteration of AI systems that are both fascinating and worrying, the project asks us to reconsider our concepts of authorship, ownership, and creativity.

In this interview with Nils-Thomas Økland from AIR Sandnes, Kataria dives into how this traditional practice inspired him to create an audio-visual performance.

Imagined as a tool to provide assistance to a conventional approach to sculpting, here an AI model is developed to seek out strategies that provide a constant improvement to how a given form is achieved. By feeding it with different tools, rules and rewards through reinforcement learning, the team steer the process revealing unpredictable outcomes.

In a world constantly adjusting and adapting to new methods of communication and connection expedited by rapid technological advancements, artist Amay Kataria explores what it means to be human.
