Controlled Uncontrollables: SAD and the Bubble Printer

Developed in the context of Human 2 Objects project, the main concept was to reflect the human capacity to transform natural elements and to use the human body and its spatiality as an input for interactivity. Since the sun’s path changes every day, the exact path it takes through the sky depends not only on the date but also on the geographical location of the observer. Infinity – New malleable subject matter by UE

The path to today’s dance-tech, review the projects by YCAM, and speculate the next steps of dance-tech through a conversation with Richi Owaki, an artist and researcher at YCAM.

Overflow is a site-specific kinetic and generative sound sculpture driven by real-time traffic cameras that monitor the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, a famous cable-stayed bridge spanning the Lower Tampa Bay connecting St. Petersburg to Terra Ceia, Florida USA.

Clockwise (2021) is a generative and experimental audiovisual piece that explores the concept of space-time, Zeno’s paradoxes related to the infinite subdivision of the units of measurement of space and time, and their experimental abstract audiovisual representations.

Created by Random Studio in collaboration with Arnout Meijer and RWA Electronics, the project is comprised of a lighting system in Random’s studio that emulates the movement of the sun and the ever-evolving states of natural light.

Passifolia is a collective experience, made-to-mesure for La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris and made up of 16 interactive modules organically set up in space.

In October CAN headed to Pittsburgh to toast the 30th Anniversary of The Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry. The event was accompanied by “Intersections,” a dynamic group exhibition showcasing many of the anti-disiciplinary works produced within the labs.
