The Weather Followers – Bringing serendipity to the digital life

It’s doing it – Online exhibition of computer generated images that autonomously update

Created as a collaboration between 9 artists, It’s doing it is an online group exhibition of computer generated images that autonomously updates on a daily basis over the course of 45 days. All of the works in the show are instruction-based artworks expressed through computer programs written by the artists. These programs generate new images once daily that can be viewed on the website.

Created by the Bachelor Photography and Master Product Design students at ECAL, #PhotoBooth is a project and a series of interactive installations showing how mobile phone cameras and the selfie phenomenon changed the way we look at ourselves.

Drawing on his expansive knowledge of the history of representation, artist and scholar Pablo Garcia ruminates on the significance of the selfie in response to the ‘New Perspectives’ theme of HOLO 1’s PERSPECTIVE section.

Created by Dries Depoorter and currently exhibited at the New Media Gallery, ‘Seattle Crime Cams’ questions the sense of citizens responsibility in the age where technology has enabled us to participate globally.

DiMoDa is a VR-based ‘digital museum for digital art’ initiated in 2015. After a busy 2016 the museum’s second iteration is currently showing at RISD Museum in Rhode Island. The museum’s co-founder Alfredo Salazar-Caro sheds a little light on where there platform has been, and where it is going.

Strelka Institute for architecture, media and design launched the enrollment campaign for the postgraduate education program. The theme of the 7th academic year at Strelka is The New Normal.

Created by Philipp Schmitt, Camera Restricta is a camera that locates itself via GPS and searches online for photos that have been geotagged nearby. If the camera decides that too many photos have been taken at your location, it retracts the shutter and blocks the viewfinder. You can’t take any more pictures here.

Beijing Connexion is a web platform hosting projects realized during a one week journey in Beijing with 15 students from ECAL Media & Interaction Design Bachelor.
