This past December a dozen artists, activists, and researchers converged at the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry for a book sprint. Led by Addie Wagenknecht, the all-women cadre convened under the collective moniker Deep Lab, and examined how privacy, security, surveillance, and large-scale data aggregation are problematized in the arts, culture and society.

Earlier this year, we have been thinking about “curated workshops”, an opportunity to bring people together to work for a very short period and share their creations. These would include setting up a team, inviting a few high-profile individuals and opening up submissions for participation.
Daniel Franke and Andreas Fischer recently finished the post & effects on a video for the band “We are the world” from LA. Using custom scripts for After Effects, which generate a mapping of the fft-analysis of the audio data of the song, the distortion of the dancer was controlled using the slit-scan technique. The higher the audio values are, the greater the range of frames sampled for one image. See the video below.
