Colormatrics – Sonification-driven audiovisual works

Colormatrics is a set of three sonification-driven audiovisual works specially designed for the Cube at the Moss Arts Center. Based on my line-by-line image scanning method and additive synthesis techniques. Colormatrics converts generative visual patterns into sound and visualizes the sonification process in real time. Colormatrics_01 creates ambient- or pad-like sounds fitting in with the immersive atmosphere…

FORMS – String Quartet

Created by Playmodes, ‘FORMS – String Quartet’ is a live multimedia performance for a string quartet, electronic music and panoramic visuals, in the field of visual sonification. The project originates from a real-time visual music score generator created by Playmodes, that is designed with a set of rules using graphic generation, driven by randomness and probability.

CMD: Experiment in bio-algorithmic politics

Created by Michael Sedbon, ‘CMD’ is an apparatus designed to explore how our technologies and ecosystems interact and what narratives and politics do they serve. The project questions what sort of ecological and social logic should be implemented in the design of automated infrastructures and algorithms.

DIGITALIVE, an attempt to define a Contemporary Manner

The symbiosis between users and devices allows and encourages personal performance pervasively, and breaks the boundaries between human and non-human action: today’s performance is post-human, quoting Karen Barad. The concept behind the term “live” (de visu) has vastly changed, following the technological evolution and letting a high-performance gradient emerge in everyday habits. With the aim…

In a world constantly adjusting and adapting to new methods of communication and connection expedited by rapid technological advancements, artist Amay Kataria explores what it means to be human.

Created by Neil Mendoza during an artist in residence at Recology SF,  House Party is a musical installation that explores prized possessions in their native habitat. All the materials used to create this artwork, from the furniture to the computers, were scavenged from the discarded trash. The music is a mix of mechanical and synthesised sounds.

Uncanny Rd. is a drawing tool that allows users to interactively synthesise street images with the help of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). The project was created as a collaboration between Anastasis Germanidis and Cristobal Valenzuela to explore the new kinds of human-machine collaboration that deep learning can enable.

Series of workshops by Ludwig Zeller at the Visual Communication Institute of the Academy of Art and Design in Basel to use generative systems to create visual instruments that mimic the expressivity of electronic music synthesizers.

Inspired by acupuncture, this sculptural instrument is designed to control sound elements in real time by fixing specific pins into a spinning disk.

The light installation ‘What is for Sure’ explores the relationship between space and time. By reinterpreting and manipulating the seemingly natural and chronological rhythm of light, the artwork addresses the phenomenon of chromatic changes in the sky caused by atmospheric scattering.
