Apply for the VERTIGO STARTS Artistic Residencies Program

Apply for a grant to collaborate on an R&D ICT-Project and access emerging technologies to produce an original artwork.

As a member of the Artistic Network for the project, CAN is pleased to announce VERTIGO, a new EU funded initiative and program that will organise 45 artistic residencies over the next 3 years in order to create new synergies between artistic communities, cultural institutions and innovation stakeholders.

Artists accompanied by their producer are invited to choose the R&D ICT-Project they want to collaborate on from a list of available projects. This residency will provide the opportunity to develop the production of an orginal artwork, a fresh approach to innovation challenges.

The program is organised in 3 yearly open calls for proposals which will be selected by an international jury. A total budget of 900.000 € is allocated by VERTIGO for funding the participation of artists in at least 45 residencies. The selected artists will contribute to the innovative aspects of ICT R&D projects’ research by bringing original perspectives through artistic practices. Those practices should naturally lead to an original artwork based on the project technology featuring novel use-cases with a high potential for innovation. VERTIGO will also act as a platform to showcase produced works to the public and actors of innovation.

Opening of the call for artists accompagned by their producer: April 21st – May 22nd, 2017 May 29th 2017 (10:00 CET) – extended.
Artistic residencies in R&D projects beginning: September 2017
