Created and designed by Brendan Dawes and published by CreativeApplications.Net, The Accidental News Explorer is a new type of news app that celebrates serendipity and chance encounters. Start by searching for a subject. Once you’ve browsed the suggested articles taken from hundreds of news sources, tap the “related topics” button to discover connected topics, which in turn lead to more articles. Each article leads to new things; the more curious you are, the longer your journey will be. What will you discover?
You may start with Art, discover Jasper Johns and see news related to similar artists or read about the Museum of modern art. Alternatively you may search for Obama, discover Larry Elder’s article, find related Afghanistan issues and read about Efron (see video).
• Optimised for iPhone 4 Retina display
• Instapaper integration – save articles for reading later
• Easily email article links
• Copy links so you can share articles
Ever since his first experiences with the humble ZX81 back in the early eighties, Brendan Dawes has continued to explore the interplay of people, code, design and art both in his role leading the team at mN and on brendandawes.com, a personal space where he publishes random thoughts, toys and projects created from an eclectic mix of digital and analog objects. Find out more….
The Accidental News Explorer is available for $1.99 and has already reached top 20 apps in the news section of the AppStore.
Curated in collaboration with the Moscow-based sound, art and technology community MIGZ, we are pleased to announce the Educational Programme for the Moscow International Festival “Circle of Lights” taking place 5th and 6th October at the Red October district.

Just bought this app, but there seems to be a problem: when I launch it, I see the title screen for a quick second, then the screen goes gray. No text, no nothing. Interestingly enough, I can call up the keyboard, type something, hit search, then the all gray screen comes back. When I shut the app down, I see for a fleeting second the articles it has retrieved as it disappears.
Hi, I’ll surely buy the app. May I ask if you have plans for an iPad update? It’d probably be a hit there, considering also the “reading” nature of the concept… I can live with the Instapaper integration as a mean of interaction between the two platforms, however I’d appreciate a universal app…
What os are you running? We made it 3.0 and above but have heard people with 3.1.2 are having the problem you described. Not sure what’s causing it but I think we’ll probably make it 3.2 and over in the next update..sorry.

Any idea what’s going on?

I’m running 3.1.3.
We identified the bug. It only affects 3.1.3. Fix is on the way… sorry about that.
Great, thanks.
on a similar theme, but nav-based…
