StillReel: You did a specific render of your piece Three Suns for StillReel. It’s a strange, remote universe. Where did your inspiration for this piece come from?

LIA: The software for Three Suns is based on the Superformula, which can take on various shapes. Like with most of my works I do not really fully plan the outcome upfront, but I have an overall idea for it. In this case I wanted to create something that would only develop slowly but at the same time with a lot of details.

Rain (2012) by LIA in collaboration with Damian Stewart

Created in collaboration with Damian Steward, LIA’s project Rain (2012) is currently on show as part of the exhibition medien.kunst.sammeln at Kunsthaus Graz. It is a fully self-contained wood+aluminium enclosure to exhibit Lia’s interactive generative software artworks from the 1990s and early 2000s.
