plant bot is a time based interactive art installation where the fates of a living plant and a computer are interdependent. Essentially the plant attempts to train a computer using image recognition. Through this process the computer will learn to recognize when the plant needs water based on images it takes of the plant.
The 50 twigs in this installation point in unison in the direction of the oldest piece of human made space debris currently above the horizon. Cloud Piano plays the keys of a piano based on the movements and shapes of the clouds. A camera pointed at the sky captures video of the clouds. MaxMSP patch uses the video of the clouds in real-time to drive a robotic device that presses the corresponding keys on the piano.
Created by David Bowen, Underwater is an installation created for INTERIEUR 2012. It uses a Microsoft Kinect to collected real-time surface data from moving wave patterns and translates them into this large scale installation comprised of hundreds of servo-motors.
