Latest in the series of collaborative projects between Elevenplay and Rhizomatiks is Shadow, a performance comprised of 3 drones with a spot light and one dancer. The dancer performance, choreographed by MIKIKO (elevenplay) is effortlessly followed and illuminated by three drones in continuous flight.
Drone control software is made using openFrameworks and MaxMSP. For wireless transmission Xbee was used together with multiwii based drone controller. Drone positions are tracked by optiTrack system / Vicon system. The drones cary a 20W custom made led spot light, tilt controlled by rc servo.
Artistic direction and drone+light programming is provided by Daito Manabe (Rhizomatiks) with light drone design and development by Motoi Ishibashi. The drone development is by Youichi Sakamoto, Tomoaki Yanagisawa, Katsuhiko Harada and Momoko Nishimoto with support from Enroute and Color kinetics. Music is Ametsub – Reflex by Lupsus, taken from V/A DEU. Project was developed for showcase at Interbee 2014
