Simple Harmonic Motion is an ongoing research and series of projects by Memo Akten exploring the nature of complex patterns created from the interaction of multilayered rhythms. Shown at Ron Arads Curtain Call at the Roundhouse last friday, this ultra wide video is mapped around the 18m wide, 8m tall cylindrical display made from 5,600 silicon rods, allowing the audience to view from inside and outside. I have been following project's development for few weeks now and having seen the "final" result at the Roundhouse, I am very sorry to have missed it. The Crystallisation Event – Endless digitisation and supersaturation of data

Created by Jayson Haebich, The Crystallisation Event explores a speculative future in which the endless digitisation and quantification of data has caused information to become supersaturated and begin a process of crystallisation. The project is presented as a speculative museum exhibit showing future artefacts from this post crystallised data world.

‘Technological Nature’ is a recent short film by media artist and designer Daria Jelonek exploring the emulation of natural phenomena with technology. Auroras, rainbows, and glaring sunlight, are all recreated with everyday materials in an eerily empty domestic environment.

Captives – CG Geological Formations as Life-Size ‘Unfinished’ Sculptures

Captives is an ongoing series of digital and physical sculptures by Quayola and a contemporary homage to Michelangelo’s unfinished series “Prigioni” (1513-1534) and his technique of “non-finito”.

Learning To See – Making deep neural network predictions on live camera input

Latest in the series of experiments and explorations into neural networks by Memo Akten is a pre-trained deep neural network able to make predictions on live camera input – trying to make sense of what it sees, in context of what it’s seen before.
