Anima is an interactive installation that facilitates a musical jam session between humans and machines. Operating much like a sequencer, Anima uses open-source AI algorithms to generate musical sequences.
06/03/2023Imagined as a tool to provide assistance to a conventional approach to sculpting, here an AI model is developed to seek out strategies that provide a constant improvement to how a given form is achieved. By feeding it with different tools, rules and rewards through reinforcement learning, the team steer the process revealing unpredictable outcomes.
12/12/2022Novae explores cosmogonies – the formation of celestial objects in a constantly expanding universe.
25/10/2022Created by Richard Vijgen, ‘Through Artificial Eyes’ is an interactive installation that lets the audience look at 558 episodes of VPRO Tegenlicht (Dutch Future Affairs Documentary series) through the eyes of a computer vision Neural Network.
25/03/2022Created by Franz Rosati, ‘Latentscape’ depicts exploration of virtual landscapes and territories, supported by music generated by machine learning tools trained on traditional, folk and pop music with no temporal and cultural limitations.
28/10/2021Created by Matteo Zamagni, this video speculates the shift from organic to electronic evolutionary processes. Cybernetic organisms, partly made of organic structures and part electronic components respond to their environment in a variety of ways at an ever-increasing speed.
19/11/2020Passifolia is a collective experience, made-to-mesure for La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris and made up of 16 interactive modules organically set up in space.
23/03/2020Created by Yuri Sizuki (Pentagram) in collaboration with Fish Fabrications and Counterpoint, ‘The Welcome Chorus’ is an interactive installation that brings together sound, sculpture and artificial intelligence.
29/01/2020HALO is a large scale immersive artwork which embodies Semiconductor’s ongoing fascination with how we experience the materiality of nature through the lens of science and technology.
01/05/2019Created by Pierry Jaquillard at ECAL (Media and Interaction Design Unit), Prélude in ACGT is collection of tools that explore the relationship between music and biology. The project uses Pierry’s own DNA (chromosome 1 to 22) and converts it into music.
10/10/2018Created by Matteo Zamagni, “Horror Vacui” is a non-narrative film that explores geological formations of Earth and the frenetic hyper-development attained by humankind.
19/09/2018“Multiverse” is the new audio-visual installation by fuse* that draws inspiration from these concepts and, through the creation of a sequence of digital paintings, generated in real-time, attempts to represent the eternal birth and death of infinite parallel universes.
07/06/2018Created by h0nh1m (Chris Cheung) CarbonScape is a kinetic data soundscape installation consisting of 18 tracks of granular synthesized sound samples. They are collected from the sound sources where carbon footprints are left – sound from the jet engine, steam from the factory or horn of the ship – all composed into a single soundscape.
12/01/2018“Three Pieces with Titles” is the latest audiovisual performance by Montreal’s artificiel. In it Alexandre Burton and Julien Roy manipulate an eclectic collection of objects within the field of view of a computer vision system to generate real-time video and abstract sonic collage.
24/11/2017Created by XEX for Dr.Jart+, ‘Prismverse’ is an installation inspired by light rays travelling in a diamond with Brilliant cut (wikipedia) – a form that produces highest brilliance with maximized light return through its top. Surrounded by complex geometrical tessellated mirror walls, the visuals on the floor, their reflection and omnidirectional sound encapsulate the visitor.
08/09/2017Created by London-based musical duo the Network Ensemble, Selected Network Studies is a series of audiovisual pieces created using network data collected from a number of locations across London, Berlin and Rome. It is released as limited edition UV-printed, vacuum-sealed mylar package containing a 2GB SD Card with one hour of video material and 45 minutes of sound material.
16/06/2017Created by Technical Earth (Mo H. Zareei + Jim Murphy), interference [dac] is an audiovisual installation that explores the combination and interaction of waveforms in one medium with those of another. In the installation, which includes a linear array of four miniature projectors affixed to loudspeaker cones, sound waves affect light waves while analogue elements alter digital ones.
14/06/2017The Mylar Topology is a new audiovisual performance by the London-based artist Paul Prudence. In it liquid forms ripple along with binaural beats, forming vertebral columns and congealing oil slicks – which dissipate as quickly as they form.
03/02/2017Created and performed by Mark Wheeler (aka Mark Eats), This City is an audio-visual performance that explores what happens when a soundtrack controls the world as much as the world influences its soundtrack. The project is a combination of a soundtrack and realtime generative visuals, both played live.
22/09/2015Pow2045 is a dance performance that combines generative design with urban choreography, focusing on a personal perspective towards duetts of man and machine.
16/06/2015Latest in the series of collaborative projects between Elevenplay and Rhizomatiks is Shadow, a performance comprised of 3 drones with a spot light and one dancer.
12/03/2015Created at Fabrica, Flutter is an experimental app concept designed specifically for grieving adolescents. It uses music to help those experiencing the loss of a loved one – a period of time often resulting in high levels of isolation and incredibly difficult emotional problems.
05/01/2015Created by Florian Born, Modulares Interface B.A. is a physical interface for iPad comprised of knobs, buttons and sliders to provide precision and haptic feedback when operating a digital interface.
20/10/2014In the recent months Mark Wheeler has been working on a series of visual sound experiments by creating openFrameworks apps that you can ‘play’ visually, generating animations from MIDI data….
