The project explores the relationship between textile and sound, focusing on the idea of using textile as an audio emitting surface.
23/08/2017Created by the Responsive Environments team at the MIT Media Lab, the ‘FabricKeyboard’ explores the concept of stretchable fabric “sensate media” as a musical instrument. The work is a response to the current developments of textile sensors, stretchable nature of knitted fabrics, and vast growth of new digital music instruments.

11/10/2016After the experiments in physical programming in the “Traces” project we reported on last year, Dana Zelig decided to examine the possibility of adjusting the plastic to fabrics, by means of pressing them together, allowing the heat to manipulate the plastic, and the manipulated plastic to effect the adjusted fabric.

Their latest release is a Large Napkin, made using double-cloth Jacquard weaving. Each piece is unique and numbered, using long textile tradition while incorporating most modern techniques of textile production.
