Created for an installation in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary Pictoplasma Festival in Berlin, this is an app/toy/thing David OReilly made for the Oculus Rift with a little help from Damien Di Fede. The experiment allows you to see your reflection as a virtual character from his multi-award winning short, The External World (below). There is no keyboard or mouse interaction – command+Q to quit. Of course, you will need Oculus Rift to enjoy it.
There’s a lot of different characters from various projects I’ve done over the years, they switch at random intervals and are in random order. Almost all had to be re-rigged, an exhausting process, but if there’s enough interest I may add more in the future.
The exhibition will take place in the St. Elizabeth Church and run from April 30 to May 12 2014. Download is available for Mac, Windows and Linux.
David OReilly is one of the artists profiled in the first issue of HOLO magazine, CreativeApplications.Net’s sister print publication that is due imminently. You can pre-order your copy now.
