Interchange is a web-based interactive installation that explores how people perceive and engage with financial markets. The project reflects on the shifting relationship between individuals and the abstract systems that define modern finance. While markets are often seen as lifeless charts or numbers moving up and down, active participation—through observation or investment—reveals a dynamic, unpredictable environment shaped by personal beliefs, collective behavior, news, and global events.
It dynamically pictures the ambiguity of emotional intensity and the volatility generated by individual market participants.

The project’s objective was to deconstruct the conventional visual language of finance and reimagine it through a more experiential lens. Through multiple iterations and testing in p5.js and assistance from AI, I explored alternative visual forms that could express the essence of market environments. This process led to the creation of an audio-visual experience that allows users to navigate between two distinct market states and “look inside” what are typically perceived as blank lines and abstract numbers.
