  • Visualiser for the track Stella Remota by TSVI (2025) created by Matteo Zamagni. The video is a real-time live system that simulates flock behaviour of birds.

Murmuration is an emergent phenomena that allows birds to fly enormous flocks in unison. Artists have explored this concept in the past, along with the advent of computational tools + hardware, notably Robert Hodgin (here and here). As in real life, each simulated entity here is spatially aware, and navigates the space according to each other’s position and the sound being played. Matteo pushes the concept further, creating cohesive, yet sometimes abrasive formations in response to the track by TSVI.
