Latest in the series of mesmerising light installations by HC Gilje is Flimmer. Light and wind passes through a volume of black strips suspended from the ceiling in the white gallery room of Wood Street Galleries, animating the space with light and shadows.
The installation consists of about 300 strips of black plastic to create a volume of about 4x10x3 meters (ca 12x33x10 ft), 6 segments of custom LEDstrips controlled from 2 teensy 3.0 microcontrollers with a custom breakout board, as well as 3 oscillating fans.
