ACC NEXT 2027 Emerging Asian Artists International Open Call

The National Asian Culture Center (ACC) announces the 2027 ACC NEXT Emerging Asian Artists International Open Call, inviting emerging artists from across Asia to submit bold, experimental works at the intersection of art and technology.

As an international institution for artistic creation, production, and cultural exchange, ACC seeks creative work by emerging artists with strong potential, from countries that have already engaged with ACC to places where the center has yet to build connections.

The theme of this edition, Prototype, explores the prototype not as something unfinished, but as an original form that distills essential value — a first step toward engaging with the surrounding environment and a point of departure for innovation.

Field
Art & Technology — interactive installations (physical computing, sensor-based), generative video and image (code- and algorithm-based), kinetic and robotic art, immersive and extended reality (XR), and other related practices. Works must not have been previously presented in another exhibition, or must be re-created works.

Number of Participants
Approximately 10 individuals/teams will be selected.

Venue: ACC Creation Space 5
Period: April 2 – August 22, 2027 (tentative)

Support

Artist fee: KRW 3,000,000 (per work)
Installation and materials budget: up to KRW 2,000,000 (per work; to be determined in consultation with ACC)
Travel support: international round-trip airfare (for overseas residents) / domestic round-trip transportation (standard high-speed rail fare)
Accommodation: Asia Plex Studio (tentative)
Additional support: an opportunity to participate in the 2027 ACC CREATORS Residency will be offered to one selected artist or team, confirmed through an artist pitch review and residency project proposal

Eligibility
Open to nationals of Asian countries born on or after January 1, 1987 (under age 40 as of 2026). Artists born or raised in Asia may also be considered regardless of nationality if their practice deeply engages with Asian cultural, social, and historical identities. Applicants must have at least one solo exhibition, OR have participated in an exhibition at a national/public art museum, OR have participated in at least three group exhibitions. Non-Korean nationals must be eligible to obtain a Korean visa.

Application
