  • This book is a new typesetting and construction of Ada Lovelace’s extensive notes on, along with her translation of, L. F. Menabrea’s Sketch of the Analytical Engine Invented by Charles Babbage, Esq. from 1843. Lovelace saw the profundity of the Analytical Engine’s potential, assessing the machine as capable of much more than its initial charge. In her Notes, Lovelace foresaw the incredible potential of reprogrammable machines, and of universal, symbolic computation – a century before we’d make the jump from fixed-program computers to reprogrammable ones.
