To celebrate the fifth birthday of Baillat Cardell and fils, Iregular decided to give their long term friends and collaborators a special present. By compiling all the research they did on web technologies and mobile during the year they created The Flutenizer: an interactive experience for creating audiovisual compositions for one person with the computer keyboard, or many by connecting their mobiles.
All graphics in the piece are generative (made by code) and they are randomised every time so they are never the same. They developed an algorithm to have a coherent choice of sounds while people play. If you just press the #1 many times it will still generate music because in the back there is an ‘auto-pilot’ randomising what sounds to choose. The voices recorded are computer generated but on a random way mixing 4 different characters at the same time, hence the glitch nature of it.
In total, up to 4 people can connect at the same time with their mobiles and play music together by shaking their device. The texts are part of Baillat Cardell’s campaign and made by Steve Savage, a writer who googled “fils et” and chose the best 120 results.
