Every month (or two) we bring you updates on the latest V6 features and fixes.

This month’s push introduces a revamped, AJAX-powered Activity with a heap of new features. Members can now navigate threaded conversations, utilise a sophisticated sidebar with saved preferences and weekly activity filters, and exchange private “Daps” to acknowledge Actions. The interface is further streamlined with automated “Load More” functionality, highlighted personal posts, and a notification dot in the menu for new content. On the Security front, the platform has deployed a major custom defense system to combat an exponential rise in bots and scrapers. This protection is 98% invisible to genuine members, ensuring a smooth experience while maintaining site integrity.

• (feature) Activity (Major Update – v3.5) – Building on the AJAX version of Activity we pushed two weeks ago, we now have a revamped Activity with a whole lot of new functionality. To name but a few:
  • Threaded conversations (clicking on a date or in mentions, you now see full conversations)
  • All new sidebar with settings/filters that you can hide if you wish.
  • Revised filters including the weeks graph you can use to narrow down your selection.
  • Load more x3 is automatic until you are asked to continue with feedback how many entries you’ve gone through.
  • New toggle to open links in new tab.
  • Your preferences (settings) are saved.
  • Your daps % visible in the sidebar.
  • Use the Activity however you like, to track discussions, check on latest posts, new members, your daps or actions…
• (maintenance) Removed Tool/People menu for Members as it was cluttering the main menu. You can now access them from Archives.
• (feature) New theme added –– Terminal

• (feature) Activity V2 / Load More – No longer pagination, now we load new posts using AJAX. There is a downside; not as fast but we’ll look into optimising or caching queries. The great thing now is that filters work really well and you can continue to load more.

• (feature) Activity Filter Update – You can now filter posts by “Me”, and by “Daps” you’ve given.
• (feature) Daps – Deployed daps to activity, a way to show gratitude / acknowledgment of Actions in Activity. This exchange is between you and the recipient only.
• (feature) Activity – Your posts are highlighted, now easy to distinguish.

• (maintanance) Security – Major security update to how we handle and deal with bots/scrapers hitting the site. This number has grown exponentially over the last month and we had to take urgent action. You may now find occasional “Prove you are human” page but the protection is 98% invisible to genuine visitors. We have made this custom plugin for WP available to all if you are experiencing similar issues (very likley).
• (feature) Keyboard: Use 1,2,3 on your Keyboard to cycle through different layouts, grid, list or meta. You can also use ‘t’ to cycle through them all.
• (feature) Activity: There is a little ‘•’ next to Activity in the menu if there have been new posts since your last visit. It will clear on your next visit to Activity page.
• (feature) Education: Added when the account was last used when you try to manage your educational account. Useful to know if students are using the account and when they used it last.

Lastly, our Activity map continues to grow, showing member interactions (just like the cover image). If you haven’t updated your Location (City), please do so on the /edit-profile/ page under ‘Location’ and see who else is in your city or any upcoming events nearby.
