Every month (or two) we bring you updates on the latest V6 features and fixes.

New CAN update introduces a brand-new Events section—now live on the front page and fully syncable with Google or your preffered calendar app. You can also add individual events to your calendar or download them as iCal files. Activity gains email notifications: members now receive email alerts for unread @mentions, plus a new event card, improved link handling, and better city maps showing other members in the city. Behind the scenes: updated Silver and Red themes, cleaner submission forms, privacy updates for expired jobs, and Activity stats on the intro page.

Oh—and CAN turned 17 this month! 🎉

• (feature) Activity: We now have email notifications for unread mentions. These will be sent out only if your mention remains unread for a few days.
• (feature) Events: You can now subscribe to CAN Events using Google or Apple Calendars.
• (feature) Events: Now visible on the front page (5).

• (maintenance) Activity: Removed target _blank on @username and post links for new entries. _blank only applied to external links (member sites) and if used inside a comment.
• (maintenance) Activity: New card added for Events.
• (feature) Events: Added feature to download iCal or add to your Google Calendar individual events.

• (feature) Events! Something we’ve been thinking about for a while, and looking for the right way to do it. Now, a whole new section on CAN dedicated to events, featuring calls for submissions, festivals, conferences, lectures, workshops and more. As a member you can now also add events in your city, and share them with the community. If you have updated your location, you will also now see events in your city at the top of the page. Try filters, the calendar, add to your calendar app, or subscribe to all!

• (maintenance) Removed tags from submission forms. They didn’t turn out to be useful, often require manual input/edit.

03-20/09/2025

• (maintenance) Expired jobs are no longer publicly accessible, even with a direct link. We’ve had few clients requesting these be made private as the positions had been filled.
• (maintenance) Introduction to Activity page updated with live stats included. You can now see how many people are active in Activity and daily entries.
• (maintenance) Themes: Some subtle changes to themes, calmer Red (pink) and smoother Silver.
• (feature) Activity: Maps now show other Members in the same city.

Finally, our Activity map shows our member interactions. If you haven’t updated your Location (City), please do so on the /edit-profile/ page under ‘Location’ and see who else is in your city.
