Created by Xenorama, Dioptricon is a series of ongoing experiments (since 2022) using light as a space-forming medium. Instead of spreading out in a radial manner from a source, in Dioptricon, light rays are instead arranged in parallel to each other.
The construction of light sources, frames, reflective surfaces and lenses can reconfigure space in yet unknown constellations. Depending on the viewing perspective, it forms enclosed structures, enters into a relationship with the body or opens up into an apparent infinity.

In the current prototype state, the team have tested various spatial configurations as well as visual and acoustic content that can be adapted to space and context for future exhibitions and installations.
Xenorama was founded in 2014 by five core members and currently consists of Marcel Bückner, Tim Heinze, Richard Oeckel, Lorenz Potthast, Moritz Richartz and Mateo Ziethen. Driven by their fascination for using digital technologies to create unique moments and atmospheres, they bring together a variety of artistic forms at the intersection of media art, video, sound, installation and performance.
