The Pattern Project revolves around collaborative pattern development, personal engagement in the process and discussion are paramount. We embrace an intuitive, form and experiment-driven approach to the development of patterns as they are produced in cooperation with artists, students, children, and museum visitors. We are captivated by the aesthetics of patterns that combine handwriting and digital technology.
This work is counterbalanced by the desire to enrich the digital aesthetics often created by the generative design process with the inclusion of hand drawing. A drawing surface with reference points and color specifications are the guiding principles. It can be explored in various ways and offers a versatile starting point for ‘human-related’ and experimental pattern development.
