LEAK is a digital sculpture that shows internet traffic. The aim of this project is to render visible the unknown communications our devices have.
The idea for this project came from a “black box” sentiment of not knowing which services share my data and what data they share. LEAK takes shape as either a standing or wall-mounted sculpture. It features an LCD screen that provides specific data transmission information such as data-packet size and destination (or origin). The main lights act as an abstract representation of the data such as the produced sound.
The structure was made of 3D transparent PLA. The whole system runs on Python utilizing Tailscale VPN so the sculpture becomes a proxy for all connected devices allowing partially unencrypted data. The microcontroller is a Raspberry Pi 4.
