Dropular is a media bookmarking service created by Andreas Pihlstrom (suprb.com). Inspired by very much loved Delicious, FFFFound and Digg, Dropular combines functions and ideas from these sites to bring you one of the best design inspiration resources on the web.
Thanks to the very useful and easy to use bookmarklet, as you find an interesting image, video or link, using javascript wizzery you are given an option to select which image you would like to ‘drop’. Once you have clicked on the image you like, you will be taken to dropular page to tag. You personal “home” page includes all your recent drops. You can follow interesting people, watch their drops, and in addition Dropular includes a RSS feed of all your drops so sharing these with your friends by feeding into twitter (see tutorial) or your facebook page couldn’t be easier.
With about 600 drops daily by many people already using the service, you’ll be sure to get the best of the web in art, design, photography and illustration.
Ten days ago Andreas submitted Dropular iPhone app to the Appstore. Still waiting approval, The app is now available! ($0.99). The app allows you to browse yours and others’ drops for daily inspiration on the go (see movie below).
Andreas was born and raised in Stockholm / Sweden. Specialised in typography, code, movable and static shapes since 1978. He is a Founder of the type foundry Subtype and Beep Machine™ and Consult Designer & Developer at Universal Everything.
