Created by Iregular, Surface & Bottom is an immersive and reactive space in between two installations created for the Salón de Proyectos Ágape in Bogotá–Colombia, curated by Calos Leal.
In the 1st installation, the surface, the audience interacts with light. On a tube-curtain images are projected and participants manipulate those images by touching the tubes and moving them. In the 2nd installation, the bottom, the audience interacts with chalk and wood. Hanged on the wall there is a wood-board covered in projection. The visuals projected are modified when the system detects friction on the surface of the wood-board. The audience is invited to use the chalk to leave a trace on the board and in this process influence the visuals. The audio for both installations reacts to the interaction.
On the surface the tracking of the hands and body of the participant is done with an IR laser sensor and X–Agora’s Scanner CV, which is a software developed by Moment Factory. The custom software for the bottom does an estimation of where the participant is drawing by triangulating the input gain of a grid of contact microphones attached to the back of the wooden-board.
This project is currently on view until Sept 27th at Salón de Projectos Ágape CLL 80 8–30, 2nd Floor. Bogotá–Colombia.
